Baltimore

Because of the title, i've been trying to think of a good reason to post this record, but i got nothing other than the fact that its such a kick-ass song.

So be it.

I've been to Baltimore a few times and had some laffs... I dig John Waters flicks... Shit- I even got a tattoo done there. It's a decent city i guess, but i got no real connection to Baltimore to speak of....

None of that matters though, what does matter is that this, the B-side of The Drifters "This Magic Moment," is the balls-out rocker that it is.
Wow. Shit like this makes me want to start a band, just to do a cover of it.

All i got is this sunny afternoon

So i cheated on this post because this one came from CD. I do own the 45, which was my original intention to post, but when i put it on to transfer it i realized that it was totally trashed. The scan of the label is about all it's still good for. Amazingly enough it does actually play through without skipping, It's just really really friggin noisy. It's what i get for scraping the bottom of the 25 cent record barrel and picking up any title i recognize...


It's not like The Kinks Sunny Afternoon is some lost relic where you have to be happy to be fortunate enough to hear it at all... Everyone's heard it before. Plenty of times. So there's no reason to settle for shitty sound quality.
I just thought it would be a fitting song to welcome in the first day of summer, it's one of my favorite Kinks tunes, and that's all the reason i need.
